We are pleased to announce the squad selected to represent Ireland at the 2022 Under 16 European Championships along with players invited to the national development squad. We extend our congratulations to every single player.
We see players from 5 clubs (Armagh Stars, Bangor Chiefs, Clare Badgers, Cork Wolfpack & Flying Ducks) represented in the squad who have been busy preparing with trainings, mini-camps and a friendly game to date.

This will be the first time Ireland will attend a World Skate European Championships after plans were scuppered in 2020 due to the pandemic. While we do not know a location yet we are excited to see this team in action in July.

Earlier today we caught up with Head Coach, Ken Moussat who had this to say:

"The selection process was the easy part of the whole process, and IHI is thankful to the clubs in Ireland that have made efforts training younger generations and keeping them interested in the sport despite the covid ordeal. It’s thanks to them the national staff is able to build a group that will go the World Skate European Championships at the end of July 2022.

As far as the preparations go, it can be summarised with the following statement. 4 months ago we had a national group but as of February we can start calling ourselves a national team.

The players and their parents are extremely involved in the project, with some not hesitating to travel great distances for training and sometimes on a bi-weekly basis, and others juggling between inline league games, ice hockey games and national team events.

It will be a difficult tournament, and for some it will be their first international experience competing at a very high level but the prospect to be part of an event of that magnitude at a young age is enthralling for all the players. They love the game and they love the hockey culture, things can only go in the right direction from there."
