Our league committee and executive committee have made the following decisions regarding the remainder of the 19/20 season and moving forward.
- The 2020 playoffs have been cancelled - with uncertainty in the air still around return to play dates, etc. and the level of planning to put on a successful event we felt we would not be in a position to put on a quality event without severely disrupting the 2020/21 season. We are now looking toward growing the event for 2021.
- The following leagues will be finished as they currently stand:
- League 2
- Clare Badgers already champions, they will be promoted along with Dun Dealgan Warriors & Armagh Stars to League 1 for 2020/21 season
- Under 14
- No champion crowned, standings finished as is.
- For 2020/21 season will be re-branded to Under 15 so no players age out, more details to follow.
- Under 12
- No champion crowned, standings finished as is.
- For 2020/21 season will be re-branded to Under 13 so no players age out, more details to follow.
- We are aiming to play the final game-day of the following leagues in late August/early September when safe to do so:
- Elite League
- 3 teams (Midland Thunder, Bangor Chiefs & Dublin Rebels) can still be champions with 1 day remaining; European League place up for grabs.
- League 1
- 2 teams (Lumberjacks & Longford Hawks) can still be champions and promoted to Elite League for 2020/21 season
- Under 18
- Title still to be determined and age-group won't be re-branded so last opportunity for junior hockey for a number of players.
- There will be no individual awards handed out this season as the full season across all leagues could not be completed.
- Our current plan sees the 2020/21 season start early/mid October - more details to follow
- The proposed promotions etc. will rebalance the number of teams in each senior league
- The changes to U12 & U14 will help mitigate the knock on effects of Covid-19 hiatus
We hope all our members are keeping safe & active.
